Meet the Principals

Lindsey Schmidt joined the Derry Township School District as the K-1 Assistant Principal in August of 2016.  She assumed the role of Hershey High School Assistant Principal in 2021. She obtained her bachelors’ degrees in Special Education and Psychology from Millersville University.  She spent her teaching career in the School District of Lancaster teaching in a variety of grades and special education settings.  She spent time working closely with regular education and special education teachers on differentiated instruction and appropriate accommodations within the classroom.

While earning her Masters’ Degree in education with a concentration in 21st Century Technology integration from Wilkes University, Schmidt began working as a special education consultant within the School District of Lancaster.  Schmidt obtained her Kindergarten through 12th grade Principal Certification from Wilkes University and then moved into administration at Wheatland Middle School in the School District of Lancaster.  Schmidt is excited to join the administrative team at Derry Township. One of her passions is fostering positive nurturing relationships with staff, students, and families.  “Every child deserves a champion.  An adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they possibly be.” –Rita Pierson.

Laurie Wade serves as an Assistant Principal for both Hershey High School and Hershey Online Learning Academy. Wade was named as Hershey High School’s assistant principal during the 2007-08 school year. From the 2011-12 to 2015-16 school years, she also had related duties at Hershey Middle School.

Wade holds a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Penn State University. Wade’s experience includes 13 years as a social studies teacher and curriculum coordinator at State College Area High School. As the social studies coordinator, Wade successfully revised the scope and sequence of the social studies curriculum in order to comply with state standards. Of special interest to Ms. Wade is the role of the school community in encouraging and supporting citizenship and democratic ideals.

Greg Miller joined Derry Township School District as an Assistant Principal at Hershey High School for the 2022-2023 school year. Prior to joining the team at Hershey High School, Greg was an Assistant Principal and Associate Principal at Shippensburg Area Senior High School and Middle School Principal in the Shippensburg Area School District. He began his career as a Social Studies teacher in the Waynesboro Area School District.

Greg earned his bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, master’s degree in teaching and curriculum, and principal’s certification from Penn State University. He has also completed the course work for the Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility from Shippensburg University. Of special interest to Greg is working to develop a consistently positive school climate that allows teachers to work and students to learn in a safe and positive environment.
